I shot that photo during our latest trip to Maine. My family had walked ahead a bit and I watched them as they carefully hopped from one tree stump step to the next. The water was still ice-cold since it was mid-spring so our little one was a bit hesitant at first about falling in. I remember my husband telling her “It’s okay. Just go slow and be patient…you can do it!”
While researching nature quotes this week, I read one that reminded me of that day & this particular image I captured…and it’s a wonderful reminder to slow down a bit. Great advice for all of us in this hectic world we live in:
Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Here are several other great quotes — hope you all find something fun to do outside this week!
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
— Albert Einstein
All good things are wild and free. — Henry David Thoreau
Two roads diverged in a wood and I — I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. — Robert Frost
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. — Lao Tzu
If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.
— Vincent van Gogh
The Earth laughs in flowers. — E.E. Cummings
In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.
— Margaret Atwood
What adventures do you have planned for this season?
I always loved that Robert Frost quote! 🙂
Such a great one, Chrystie!! Thanks so much for your comment! 🙂
“All good things are wild and free” I LOVE THAT!
Me too, Mandi!! Thanks so much for reading! 🙂
Such great (and spot-on) quotes! I love, “Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” — Lao Tzu Reminds me that not everything that we stress over is *that* important. It all usually gets done 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed reading it, Patricia – and definitely agree about the great reminders to not stress so much!! Thanks so much for reading!
I think my favorite one was the last one, at the end of the day you should smell like dirt. Most definitely you should. The other one that really stuck with me is nature doesn’t hurry, yet everything is accomplished. How true is that. Sometimes I do need to step back and say that to myself. What lovely saying. Thank you so much for sharing!!
I have such a hard time picking a favorite, but knew that last one was the perfect quote to end the list. 🙂 Thanks so much for reading & commenting!! 🙂
Beautiful quotes – I love ‘All good things are wild and free’. And that’s such a great picture! I run a page on instagram called @lovelifeoutside – you’d fit right in if you wanted to be featured 🙂
Thanks so much, Alison! I followed that IG feed…will check it out more and tag something. 🙂
All good things are wild and free. – very very true! This is something we can learn from nature at all times.
Most definitely, Anna!! Thanks for reading!
Aw I love these quotes and I’m so excited for spring! I managed to get out and go on two all -day hikes in the last couple of weeks and it has felt wonderful to get outside and in nature again after a long winter. I especially love that quote by Vincent van Gogh, “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” So true.
How awesome that you’ve gotten out a bit already, Mimi Rose! We were out a little today before the rain started, too! 🙂
As a gardener, I related to these all too well. My favorite is the smelling like dirt. Nothing is better therapy than being outside digging in the dirt or walking through nature.
Most definitely, Lana! That spring “dirt” smell is great therapy! Thanks so much for reading/commenting!
Love the smell like dirt quote. My rambunctious 6-year-old has that one down!
That’s one of my favorites, too, Reuben! 🙂
