The wee girl LOVES Harry Potter. (Disclaimer, though…I am the Potterhead & now I’ve successfully pulled her into my Potter-web, as it may be…a parenting success in my book)! 🙂
She wanted to be Hermione Granger for Halloween this past year. Uninterested in the cloak, she wanted to go with the school outfit instead. It was quite the simple costume to put together — we had a wand and a grey skirt already so I only needed to pick up a white, button-down shirt & grey knee socks to help complete the (not-quite-accurate-but-close enough) look. The only thing left was the tie — found a Gryffindor tie at the Halloween party store — and she also wanted a Gryffindor scarf.
We didn’t like the scarves they had at the party stores in our area so I looked online and wasn’t thrilled the options there either, so I decided to crochet one for her instead.
I used a simple, single crochet stitch & once the scarf was complete, I attached the Gryffindor patch that we ordered from the Universal Orlando store for about $7. The patch was technically an iron-on but I stitched it on by hand instead.
We were very happy with the results — such a simple crochet project & easy to customize if you wanted to change-up the house colors!
